Senior Matt Bohlman, and academic genius, is this week’s academic spotlight. His main area of expertise is math, Bohlman says, “My brain is just wired for it.” He works at McDonald’s during his spare time, and although you’d believe this would affect his grades, he’s managed to work around it. Bohlman says the tip to working during the school year is to not schedule yourself for more hours than you can handle. He plans on going to college and majoring in computer engineering, but he doesn’t know where he wants to go to school. “I’ve always enjoyed doing stuff on computers,” says Bohlman.

Bohlman is currently participating in Cross Country and plans on doing track this spring. He is in many different clubs including german club, math club, and DECA. He has participated in the GHS mock trial team for the past three years of his high school career and plans on being on the team for the last time this year. Bohlman says that although he loves math club, mock trial is by far his favorite activity. “I’ve been doing it since I was a freshman and I really enjoy it.”

Bohlman got an astonishing 31 on his ACT, saying that his success is attributed to, “setting enough time aside each day to study.”

Bohlman has a good sense of humor saying that the owner of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, is his hero because “he’s an absolute legend.”
