Boys and Girls Soccer teams off to good starts

Hunter Walker, Staff Reporter

Both of the girls and boys varsity soccer teams have got off to good starts this year. So far one of the main highlights of the season was a sweep of Scottsbluff. The Varsity boys were able to hold on for 2-0 win and the Girls Varsity team pulled off a dominating 4-2 win. Both teams just recently returned from the GNAC tournament. The Boys playing some of the toughest competition in the state went 0-3 on the weekend. However they did play a tough match against Lexington who is one of the best teams in the state and a perennial power in the state the would lose that match 2-0. The girls had a very successful tournament however. They got a huge win against state rated Hastings by a score of 4-3. They would also get a dominant win over Grand Island Northwest by a score 6-0 which was powered by 4 goals from Taylor Philbrick. However they would lose in the championship match to a tough North Platte team by a goal count of 0-4. Make sure to come out and keep supporting both the girls and boys soccer team.
