Gering Wrestlers led By Chavez in Valentine

The Gering High School wrestling team was led by Sophomore Quinton Chavez, who captured a runner-up finish at the Valentine invite this past weekend. Chavez, who would go 4-1 at the tournament, improved to 8-2 overall on the season. Gering would bring 7 different Wrestlers to compete in the tough two day tournament, a lot of whom were young to try and get some experience for some younger guys. Freshman Jacob Awiszus would also have an impressive showing in the 160 lb division by finishing the tournament with a 3-2 record. This was the Bulldogs last tournament until December 29th when the Bulldogs will make a trip down to Mccook to compete in the GNAC tournament. GNAC is usually a very tough tournament. Even though it is just a 6 team tournament, the competition will be very stout. The teams that the Bulldogs will be competing against are Scottsbluff, North Platte, Mccook, Hastings and Columbus. Following GNAC the Bulldogs will then head west to Casper to take on Casper Kelly Walsh on January 3rd.
